Do you want a 100% reliable transfer journalist? Then Fabrizio Romano is your guy!
The 26-year-old Italian transfer guru specialises in transfer windows, posting everything around that topic for his 800k followers on Instagram and Twitter.
In spite of his relatively young age, he has a lot of experience. He works and writes for several big newspapers, such as Sky Sports, The Guardian and Cmdotcom; he is also the founder of SOS Fantacalcio.
Similar to our article on the world’s most influential football journalist, Gianluca di Marzio, Fabrizio Romano writes mostly about news in the Serie A, as well as covering the biggest signings in Europe.
Different from a lot of other journalists, Fabrizio Romano will always make sure he is 100% certain a transfer will happen before posting it.
Being 100% sure might cause him to be a bit slower and not post as much news as other journalists, but when it comes to transfer news, quality over quantity! Right?
Fabrizio Romano dedicates his life to finding and revealing news that is completely correct, this is what drives him in what someone would call ‘a pretty hectic life’.
His life consists of at least 50 phone calls each day, along with stalking a bunch of popular hotels and headquarters of different football clubs, in case agents or directors show up.
Fabrizio Romano isn’t just busy during the summer and January transfer windows, he stays busy throughout the entire year.
From August 2019 to December 2019, he broke the news on profiles like e.g. Zlatan to Milan, Claudio Ranieri to Sampdoria and Ancelotti to Everton.
But without a doubt, most of his work is during both the transfer windows.
During the 2020 January transfer window he stayed busy every single day, announcing a bunch of different transfer deals, such as Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young, Pepe Reina, Gedson Fernandes and more.
He also confirmed that there has been talks between clubs and players such as Tahit Chong and Olivier Giroud possibly joining Inter.
Perhaps the two of the most exciting announcements that Romano has made are yet to come!
He has confirmed that Edinson Cavani has already agreed on personal terms with Atletico Madrid, and that he will move there during the summer transfer window.
Cavani, who as of now has 199 goals and 41 assist in 295 games for the French giant PSG, would without a doubt be a huge signing for the Spanish Champions League club.
Even more exciting, is the possibility of Massimiliano Allegri joining Manchester United. Allegri said in an interview with ESPN:
“I’ll be back on next June. I won’t join any club before next season. But yes, I am taking English lessons here in Milan…”
Romano thinks there might be talks between the two and that there’s a big chance Massimiliano Allegri will take over as head coach.
Especially if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t reach the Champions League this season.
Overall, it looks like the summer transfer window is going to be an exciting one!
